The Union Agroindustrial de Cañeros S.A. (UNAGRO S.A), which is part of the UNAGRO S.A. Corporation, was founded historically as an institution on December 5, 1972. Mr. Roberto Barbery Paz (+) and a group of cane growers from the region and various departments of Bolivia, inspired by the idea of uniting the human settlements of the northern region of Santa Cruz under the motto 'NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE' and recognizing that unity is the fundamental basis of strength, decided to create their own sugar mill to address the inadequate treatment at that time from the State and private sugar mills towards the cane growers; by launching this business venture, they aimed to establish a fair relationship between the cane sector and the industry, as well as to substantially reduce transportation and processing costs of sugarcane.
