Located on the right bank of the Paraná River, at Km. 1,198 of the General Navigation Route, in the very geographic center of the Plata Basin and MERCOSUR. It is integrated with the city of Barranqueras, which has a population of 55,000 inhabitants and extensive commercial, banking, and service infrastructure. It is 7 km from Resistencia, the capital of Chaco Province, and 10 km from Resistencia International Airport. With the growth of the Barranqueras Port and its connection to the Iquique Port in Chile via railway and the development of road links, the long-awaited project to connect the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans at latitudes closer to the usual trade flows is now a reality. The Barranqueras port will also benefit, as it will be able to handle goods that, from this route crossing the Bolivian highlands and Salta, are destined for the south. The corridor connecting the two ports is called the Southern Corridor, starting in Iquique, continuing through Calama, then crossing into Argentine territory in Jujuy, passing through Salta and Chaco to Barranqueras, covering nearly 2,000 kilometers. From Barranqueras, it connects with Corrientes via the railway bridge to be built, and from there to Porto Alegre. The development of the Paraguay-Paraná and Tieté-Paraná Waterways transforms the Barranqueras Port into a true hub of product flow and a key point for regional integration.
