Los Altos International Airport is located in the city of Quetzaltenango in the Guatemalan highlands, in the northeast part of Quetzaltenango city. The airport underwent extensive construction works as part of the national and international airport rehabilitation program, with a cost of 2,000,000 quetzals. Serving Quetzaltenango, the second-largest city in Guatemala, it now holds an international status, alongside La Aurora International Airport and Mundo Maya International Airport. Currently, the airport offers domestic commercial flights to Guatemala City, Huehuetenango, Petén, and international connections to Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico. The entire region anticipates economic benefits from this new airport.
